Chat for mobile

tiptalk.chat works as a mobile chat with no apps: the room opens in Safari or Chrome and you are already in.

tiptalk.chat is built for mobile. The room opens in Safari, Chrome or whatever browser you use, just like opening any website. There is no app to download, no updates, no strange permissions: just one more tab.

You can send messages, photos, short videos and start calls with the front camera or the mic. All from the same place. If you decide to make a video call, the browser asks for camera permission the first time and then keeps it granted for that room.

There is no app to install and no odd notifications. If you close the tab, the conversation is still there as long as the room is open. You come back in from the link and pick up where you left off.

The mobile chat interface adapts to the screen: messages fill the usable width, the keyboard adjusts on its own, and the call buttons sit within thumb reach at the top right.

While you are in a video call, the chat stays active underneath. You can read incoming messages without hanging up, and the person on the other side sees what you type while you talk. Handy for passing a link, an address or a number without losing the thread.

Calls in mobile chat work over data or WiFi and adapt to network quality. If your 4G is weak, it automatically lowers the video resolution so the audio does not drop. And if you lose the connection, it reconnects on its own when you are back.

It works the same from an iPhone as from an Android. The only requirement is an up-to-date browser: nothing unusual, every phone from the last few years qualifies.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install an app to use the chat on mobile?+

No. The whole experience runs from the browser. There is no native version because there is no need for one: video calls, tips and photos all work fine from the web.

Does a mobile chat with video use a lot of data?+

A standard video call uses between 5 and 10 MB per minute. If you are low on data, you can turn off the camera and keep just the audio, which drops to under 1 MB per minute.

Which browsers does it work in?+

It works in up-to-date versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and Brave. For video calls the browser will ask permission to use your camera and microphone the first time.

Do I need to sign up to use tiptalk.chat?+

No. You can create a room with just a nickname and a name, and the other person joins from the link without opening an account. You only need to register if you want to receive tips and cash them out to your account.

What happens to my messages when the room closes?+

When you close the room (or after 24 hours), we delete every message, photo and video that was uploaded. Nothing stays on our servers beyond the tip transaction record, which we are required to keep for tax purposes.
